Laureate Honors
Greystone Solutions developed a Microsoft Windows Mobile-based solution to keep field
reps on the move
BOSTON, Mass. — June 23, 2008 — Greystone Solutions’ client,
Cumberland Farms, has been honored for its Handheld Productivity Initiative as a
part of Computerworld Honors Program. The Initiative, which was designed and developed
by Greystone Solutions, earned Laureate recognition for Cumberland Farms. The Computerworld
Honors Program recognizes organizations from around the world whose information
technology applications promote positive social, economic and educational change.
Begun in 1988, the Computerworld Honors Program selects organizations that demonstrate
an extraordinary use of Information Technology across 10 categories. Recognized
in the Business and Related Services Category, the Handheld Productivity Initiative
was developed to update a manual, labor intensive data entry process.
The Microsoft® Windows Mobile™ solution expedited reporting times and enabled
Cumberland Farms’ field staff to remotely report data. Using PalmTreo Smartphones
that securely connect to corporate databases, the mobile application allows field
staff to view historical pricing trends and communicate with headquarters instantly
regarding store problems or environmental issues while on the road. Today, Cumberland
Farm’s streamlined communications and increased connectivity are improving
corporate business processes and decision-making, while still keeping IT costs manageable.
Located in Boston, MA, Greystone Solutions works with clients across New England
to create information technology solutions that simplify work processes, deliver
competitive advantages and improve business intelligence. Practice areas include
custom application development, portal solutions, database design, and systems integration.
