Mark oversees Greystone’s portfolio lending activities, including bridge and mezzanine lending efforts. In 2021 the portfolio lending group closed approximately $3.65 billion in loans via the firm’s multi-investor fund, for which Mark also serves as President. He oversees the group’s 35-person staff which includes the sales desk, underwriting, closing, and asset management personnel.
Mark has been working in commercial real estate and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) since 1983, and has a broad base of expertise in securitization, origination, underwriting, marketing, and asset management. Prior to joining Greystone, Mark served as President and COO of the publicly-traded mortgage REIT CRIIMI MAE Inc. (NYSE: CMM), which invested in subordinate commercial mortgage-backed securities. While there, he successfully managed a going-private merger transaction, which included serving as acting CEO during the 12-month merger process. Earlier in his career, he held senior positions in the CMBS groups at Merrill Lynch, Daiwa Securities and Greenwich Capital, among other firms, from 1986-2002.
Mark earned a Bachelor’s degree from Columbia College, Columbia University. He also holds a Master of Public Affairs degree from Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.
