John Freedman is a Managing Director and the Interim Head of Credit responsible for the credit and underwriting functions for GCC. John has over 20 years of commercial real estate finance experience. Prior to Greystone, John was a Managing Director with Axiom Capital, where he was responsible for debt and equity advisory and placement. Prior to Axiom, John served as a Managing Director and Commercial Chief Credit Officer at Redwood Trust. At Redwood, John oversaw the credit and underwriting functions and was a member of loan committee. John developed Redwood’s commercial policies and procedures manual and was a key contributor in the B piece, rating agency, asset management, and warehouse line management processes. Prior to Redwood, John held various underwriting and loan production positions with Prudential and General Electric.
John holds a B.A. in Public Policy from Hamilton College.
