Fauquier Habitat for Humanity and Greystone Join Forces on Local Warrenton Project

April 10, 2012

Fauquier Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce a joint effort with Greystone for the next Fauquier Habitat home to be built in Warrenton this year. Fauquier Habitat is preparing to build its fourth duplex at Sterling Court. Prior to the start of building, Fauquier Habitat must raise $75,000, the cost to build each unit of the duplex.

“Teaming up with Greystone is a wonderful opportunity for Fauquier Habitat. Greystone's corporate culture is one of giving back to the community,” said Brenda Drerenberger, Executive Director of Fauquier Habitat for Humanity. “We are extremely excited to be one of the local charities that they decided to work with this year.”

“Greystone has always been a charitable organization and this year we want to bring it home to our local community,” says Leslie Dominy, Vice President of Greystone’s servicing group in Warrenton. “As our core business is to provide financing for affordable housing – Habitat is the perfect fit. We are really looking forward to the challenge of raising funds and building a home, which will serve as a daily reminder of the need for charity right here in Warrenton.”

The relationship with Greystone will provide donations in cash and materials to cover the cost of building the duplex unit. Employees will also participate with the actual building process. “While Greystone has always contributed a significant percentage of its profits to charity, our goal is to encourage our employees to cultivate their own charitable spirit and to give back directly,” adds Betsy Vartanian, Executive Vice president of Greystone’s servicing group. “Contributing to this home gives our employees the opportunity to directly experience the power of giving.”

Fauquier Habitat for Humanity expects to begin building in late Spring for two qualified families. Women Build of Fauquier Habitat for Humanity is currently raising funds to sponsor the second unit of the duplex.
