Mike Casavant is GCC’s Managing Director & Head of Credit and Underwriting. Most recently, he was Head of Underwriting for Real Estate Structured Finance at BofA Securities, Inc., where he oversaw the closing and successful securitization of over 1,500 loans on all property types, with a volume of over $40 billion. He was responsible for approving all loans, working closely with origination teams to win loan assignments and structure loan sizes, pricing, terms and conditions, reserves and loan guarantor requirements. He managed a 15-person team of senior closing underwriters and origination associates across 5 national offices, maintained policies and procedures and underwriting guidelines for the group, managed third party underwriting relationships and handled deal discussions with the bank’s credit risk personnel.
Prior to BofA Securities, Inc., Mike was Co-Head of Underwriting at Ladder Capital Finance, LLC. He was also a Senior Vice President in the Large Loan Group (Global Real Estate Group) at Lehman Brothers, Inc., responsible for closing over $30 billion in loans and working across all real estate disciplines to provide a unified product of debt, equity, mezzanine and bridge equity to clients. Prior to Lehman, he held several junior positions at Ocwen Capital Corporation and Coopers & Lybrand, L.L.P., where he began his career. He holds a B.S. in Finance from Bentley University.
